Medicare Supplement Plans Comparison Chart 2027: Compare All 10 Medigap Plans

Reviewed by Russell Noga, Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker (all 50 states) — Last updated October 12, 2026

There are 10 standardized Medicare Supplement plans, labeled with letters A through N. Each letter pays a set list of benefits, and those benefits are the same no matter which insurance company sells the plan.

That makes a comparison chart the fastest way to choose. Pick the letter that covers what you need, then compare prices for that letter. Most people new to Medicare end up choosing between Medicare Supplement Plan G and Plan N.

How to Read the Medigap Comparison Chart

Every Medicare Supplement plan with the same letter pays the same benefits. A Plan G from one insurance company covers exactly what a Plan G from any other company covers. Only the price, discounts and rate history change from carrier to carrier.

So the chart answers the first question: which letter covers what you need. Once you’ve picked a letter, the second question is which company sells that letter for the lowest price with the steadiest rates in your ZIP code.

All Medigap plans work with any doctor or hospital in the United States that accepts Medicare. There are no networks, and you never need a referral to see a specialist.

Which Medicare Supplement plan fits you in 2027: Plan G, Plan N, High Deductible Plan G and Plans K and L compared

Which Medicare Supplement Plan Fits You in 2027

Most people don’t need to weigh all 10 letters. These four cover nearly every situation:

Plan G is the most complete plan for people new to Medicare. After the Part B deductible ($283 in 2026), it pays your Medicare-approved costs in full, including Part B excess charges. See our full guide to Medicare Supplement Plan G for 2027.

Plan N usually costs less than Plan G. In exchange, you pay copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for ER visits, and it doesn’t cover excess charges. See our Medicare Supplement Plan N 2027 guide.

High Deductible Plan G pays the same benefits as Plan G after you meet a yearly deductible ($2,950 in 2026). It has the lowest premium of the four and fits people who rarely see a doctor but want protection from a big bill.

Plan K and Plan L pay a share of most costs, 50% and 75%, until you reach a yearly out-of-pocket limit ($8,000 and $4,000 in 2026). After that, they pay 100%. Premiums are lower, but your costs in a heavy-use year are higher.

Plan F and Plan C in 2027

Plan F and Plan C are the only plans that cover the Part B deductible. Federal law stopped selling those plans to anyone who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

If you were eligible before that date, you can still buy or keep Plan F or Plan C. Everyone else should look at Plan G, which covers everything Plan F does except the Part B deductible, usually at a lower premium.

What Medicare Supplement Plans Cost in 2027

Medigap premiums are set by each insurance company and filed with each state, so the same letter can cost very different amounts. Your price depends on your state, age, ZIP code, tobacco use and any discounts.

For context, the national average Plan G premium was about $180 a month in 2026 for a 65-year-old woman who doesn’t smoke, according to ValuePenguin, and Plan G rate increases averaged 16.8% across the industry in 2026, according to Telos Actuarial. See our full breakdown of Medicare Supplement Plan G cost in 2027.

Because the benefits are identical, compare the same letter across carriers such as UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplement plans and Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Supplement plans before you buy.

Before You Choose: 2027 Checklist

  1. Pick your letter from the chart. Decide which benefits you want covered in full.
  2. Check your timing. Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period is the six months starting the month you’re 65 or older and enrolled in Part B.
  3. Compare the same letter across carriers. Benefits are identical, so price is the difference.
  4. Ask about the pricing method. Attained-age, issue-age and community-rated policies age very differently.
  5. Ask about discounts. Household and automatic payment discounts can lower your premium.
  6. Add a Part D plan. Compare all Medicare Supplement plans for 2027 alongside your drug coverage.

Medicare Supplement Plans Comparison Chart 2027 — Frequently Asked Questions

➤ What is the best Medicare Supplement plan for 2027?

For most people new to Medicare, Plan G is the most complete plan available. It covers everything except the Part B deductible. Plan N costs less in exchange for small office and ER copays, and High Deductible Plan G has the lowest premium if you can handle a yearly deductible.

➤ Are Medicare Supplement plans the same from every company?

Yes. Medigap plans are standardized by federal law, so a Plan G from one company pays exactly the same benefits as a Plan G from any other company. Premiums, discounts, rate increase history and customer service are what differ.

➤ What is the difference between Plan G and Plan N?

Both pay the Part A deductible and most of your Medicare-approved costs. Plan N adds copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for ER visits that don’t result in admission, and it doesn’t cover Part B excess charges. In exchange, Plan N usually has a lower premium.

➤ Can I still buy Medicare Supplement Plan F in 2027?

Only if you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. Plan F and Plan C cover the Part B deductible, and federal law stopped selling plans that cover it to people who became eligible on or after that date. Plan G is the closest option for everyone else.

➤ Which Medigap plans cover Part B excess charges?

Only Plan F and Plan G cover Part B excess charges, the extra amount a doctor who doesn’t accept Medicare assignment can charge, up to 15% above the Medicare-approved amount.

➤ Do Medicare Supplement plans cover prescription drugs?

No. Medigap plans sold today do not include prescription drug coverage. You need a separate Medicare Part D plan alongside your Medicare Supplement plan.

➤ What are the Plan K and Plan L out-of-pocket limits?

In 2026 the out-of-pocket limit is $8,000 for Plan K and $4,000 for Plan L. Once you reach the limit, the plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the year. The 2027 limits are set each fall.

➤ Do Medicare Supplement plans cover foreign travel?

Plans C, D, F, G, M and N cover 80% of foreign travel emergency care after a $250 deductible, up to a $50,000 lifetime limit. Plans A, B, K and L do not include foreign travel coverage.

➤ When is the best time to buy a Medicare Supplement plan?

Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period, the six months starting the month you are 65 or older and enrolled in Part B. During that window, insurance companies can’t deny you coverage or charge you more because of your health.

New to Medicare?

If you are new to Medicare, then you can enroll in a 2027 Medicare Supplement plan up to six months prior to your Medicare Part B effective date.
